Celem ochrony przyrody w rezerwacie jest ochrona ekosystemu grądu niskiego Galio sylvatici Carpinetum stachyetosum (R. Tx. 1937) Oberd. 1957 oraz łęgu wiązowo-jesionowego Ficario-Ulmetum minoris Knapp 1942 em. J.Mat. 1976 wraz z bogactwem siedliska żyznego lasu liściastego i różnorodnością biotyczną.
